Masterclass Success for Cornish SMEs

23 March 2018

Seventeen Cornish businesses have completed the Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange Masterclass delivered by Acceleration Through Innovation (ATI) this week. The first Masterclass held at Pool Innovation Centre welcomed a range of businesses from Microcomms to The Kensa Group, with the second held at Jericho’s Kitchen, Launceston welcoming the likes of FOLK2FOLK and Flann Microwave.

The Innovation Masterclass provides businesses engaging with the ATI programme an opportunity to discuss and explore a range of tools and techniques which can be applied directly to their business. It also offers a platform for those attending to talk through any challenges whilst providing support to businesses with the innovation process and strategic decision making.

The Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (IKE) is the UK’s professional body for innovators. It accredits and certificates innovation practices and influences the inter-relationship between education, business, and government through research and collaborative networks. ATI have partnered with IKE to deliver a number of Masterclasses in Cornwall between now and March 2020.

Sean McNeill of 4C Architecture attended the Masterclass and stated he “would highly recommend the services and training if you are a business in Cornwall”.

Sam Connor, Cornish Lime Builders felt “the tools and methods described today were excellent and very much appreciated”.

ATI is a three year ERDF project which aims to support business innovation across Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. Led by the University of Plymouth in collaboration with Cornwall Innovation, the project drives a culture of innovation, supporting businesses who are looking to adopt innovative processes or who have aspirations to bring a new product or service to the market.

Jo Hancock, Senior Project Manager of Acceleration Through Innovation discusses “ATI brings something unique to businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Through it, clients on the programme have an opportunity to benefit from top level, high quality professional Innovation advice and workshops which are accredited by the IKE Institute from London”.
